The day began with plans of a short trip… Ride when the day grew warm and end long before the sun started it’s decent. At some point Lauren suggested that no matter what the plans “we were going to pack an entire lunch”. So, a Sunday tour of homes in Richmond, UT found us heading up Smithfield Canyon with empty water bottles and the taste of Luna bars in out mouths. Since distance wasn’t our aim, we turned around yet not before the small roads disappeared in to dirt trails. After a few more stops and side jaunts we stayed off the bonk with hot dogs in Richmond. I had to..Fresh Sauerkraut on a polish dog and Cholula hot sauce imported form Mexico. How could anyone in their right mind pick a better food to stay off a bonk. Chased with donuts and Gatorade – 20 miles later I wanted to kill myself but it was still a great ride. Sorry – no GPS, no cycling computers, no back pack/camelback and/or worries to get in the way of the ride or to help tell this story. However, all our pictues have been up-loaded to Splash blog and my picasa web album. Click on any picture here to get a larger view.
Lessons from the Big Fix crew were ringing in my head as we headed back – I hadn’t worn my helmet because it was going to be a short one. A nice head wind was brewing as we jumped on Hwy89 to get back home. The Lessons? The little things…. Helmets, always having a snack, water, giving the bike a once over every time it is ridden - Peter, Bo, Steve, Greg, Ricky, Walt-Dawg, Crash, Eric – Thanks. Lauren and I finished the day off by working together into the wind as the sky clouded-up with the sun peaking through just over the mountain tops– It was simply Great!
